Hercules First Labor (version 0.02) -------------------- Over 20 years ago my introduction to computers was in playing, and then writing my own Text Adventures. This game was written following the structure and limits of the old Scott Adams adventures. It even follows the programming limitations of it's scripting structure. All Commands are Two Words And only the first 3 letters of each word count. So to saw "Talk Tony" you could say "Tal Ton". I left debugging functions in for the curious, I know you're out there. And yes...the whole adventure is in there in the code, but don't try to decipher it. If you want it I'll send it to you in the orignal form before it got converted it JavaScript functions. Much more readable. NOTE: It's been Tested with Microsoft IE 5/6 Only It does seem to work in Mozilla though Hints ----- LOOK at everything TAKE anything not nailed down TALK to everyone USE things when it seems appropriate (and don't be too confused by the prologue) And Sorry, there's no save yet. But once you know the way through the game, it takes only minutes to get back where you were. There's not a lot of running around bringing things places and I left the inventory infinite to avoid inventory juggling to speed it up. Stats ----- 50 Rooms 58 Items 96 Messages 51 Nouns 75 Verbs (though that's only because I started from the Adventureland list and never renumbered...) The VERB list is really the only part copied from anywhere, it's pretty much the same VERB list as many IF games.
