WALKTHROUGH CONVENTIONS ----------------------- Note that: >COMMAND/OTHER COMMAND Indicates that you can choose to type COMMAND _or_ OTHER COMMAND at that point in the game. Your responses will be treated with utmost confidentiality, so feel free to answer honestly. >OUT >FORWARDS >WAIT >WAIT >FORWARDS >STAND ON PLATFORM >WAIT >WAIT >FORWARDS >SIT ON CHAIR >>{YOUR NAME} >MALE/FEMALE >YES/NO >YES/NO >YES/NO >YES/NO >YES/NO >YES/NO >YES/NO ------------------------ ACT 2 - THE LRMT COMPLEX ------------------------ Significant aspects of this part of the game are generated procedurally and at random, so no exact walkthrough is possible. The in-game HINT menu can offer tips for some of the challenges you'll face. PART 1: PREPARING FOR YOUR FIRST "SALVAGE" MISSION -------------------------------------------------- >X INTERCOM >PUSH BUTTON >OUT >FORWARDS >WEAR SUIT >TAKE LAUNCHER >TAKE SCANNER >TAKE BEACON Note: At this point you'll be unable to head back unless you replace these items where you found them - the launcher, scanner and beacon on the equipment rack, the suit in the glass tube. >FORWARDS >SIT PART 2: YOUR FIRST MISSION -------------------------- It's impossible to say what your destination will be or what you'll find there. To start with you'll probably want to: >X SCANNER And then type compass directions to reach one of the blips you'll see. (If there are no blips on your scanner, try moving around and examining your scanner every few moves.) Note: The "moving blips" may periodically move from one co-ordinate to another. If you encounter any objects you might want to tag them for retrieval. >TAG {OBJECT} You can only tag five objects per mission. The mission will end when: -50 turns have elapsed. -You experience serious injury to your head or torso. -You pull the cord on your retrieval beacon (assuming you haven't dropped it somewhere): >PULL CORD PART 3: EXPLORING THE COMPLEX ----------------------------- Depending on how your first mission turned out, you may have returned to the Transmission Chamber or the Infirmary. From the Infirmary: >OUT From the Transmission Chamber: >FORWARDS >FORWARDS You can now access new areas of the complex. If you haven't already been to the Infirmary you might like to visit it now, especially if you sustained any minor injuries. Note: From this point on, when you enter the antechamber you'll automatically gather or return your mission equipment. Note: If you try to take another mission at this point, you'll be told you have to wait for repairs. Your goal at this point is to explore the complex. Specifically, you need to head towards the "long corridor". If you're coming from the Infirmary the long corridor is straight ahead. >FORWARDS From the Transmission Chamber it's to the right. >RIGHT Note the Terminal here. >X TERMINAL >PUSH BUTTON This accesses a menu where you can spend your hard-earned credits. Anything you purchase will appear in the Holding Cell. When you're offered a numerical choice, enter a number that isn't displayed (or nothing at all) to exit to the previous menu. From here, head to the Bathroom. If you arrived from the Complex: Lower Level, go: >LEFT PART 4: HELPING SOLA -------------------- Once you arrive in the Bathroom: >LOOK IN BOWL >X SOLA >ASK ABOUT HELP >ASK ABOUT MODULATOR (If you want to know more about what's going on/where you are, you can try asking Sola about other subjects.) From here on your goal is to earn credits by going on missions and then buy Sola the parts for the modulator. Specifically you need: -An octopode holo-gallery (under the terminal's Furniture menu) -A lava lamp (under the terminal's Furniture menu) -Matter Transmission Made Easy (under the terminal's Books menu) After you've bought these items, find them in the Holding Cell, TAKE them, go to the bathroom, and GIVE them to Sola. >GIVE BOOK TO SOLA >GIVE LAMP TO SOLA >GIVE PROJECTOR TO SOLA Since you can only carry two at a time, this will involve at least two trips. If only you'd been born an octopode! Once Sola has all three, you'll need to go on a mission and return, or sleep on the bed in your Holding Cell.
