What am I doing here?
You're a sidekick and your boss, Buck Swagger, has gotten himself into a mess of trouble. Your job is to keep Buck alive and to defeat
Silas Blackthorn and his 4 henchman, the baddies trying to kill him.
How do I keep Buck from poisoning himself?
1.
Buck won't let you take the plate of spaghetti.
2.
Have you noticed the tablecloth?
3.
Pull it.
Black Bart
1.
I'm trapped in the pantry with Black Bart and keep getting killed.
2.
There's something in the kitchen that might be disabling.
3.
The cheese has seen better days. Have you cut into it?
4.
You need a way to disable Bart with the stench but not be overcome with it yourself.
5.
There's a clothespin in the drawer in room 4 in the hotel.
6.
Wear the clothespin and cut the cheese. While Bart's mouth is open, pour the poison in.
7.
Don't forget to search the toque.
Where's Buck?
1.
Buck's been kidnapped. Where'd they take him?
2.
Zeke mentions something about a water stop in the desert east of town.
3.
But you can't get there on foot.
4.
You can get a ride from Jenkins in the stables. Just show him the telegram.
Head east and you'll come to the water stop.
Black Ben
1.
I keep getting killed by Black Ben.
2.
He's lying on a handcar. Have you noticed the train passing through?
3.
Maybe you could push him into the path of the passing train.
4.
You need some way to trap him on the handcar, though.
5.
There's a pair of handcuffs in the desk drawer in the jail.
6.
Attach the cuffs to the handle, then to Ben. Then push the car southwest onto the
main line.
7.
Don't forget to release Buck from the water tank and grab the rope inside.
Black Brock
1.
Buck's been spirited away again, sigh. Where to now?
2.
Zeke seems to know all about Buck's Business.
3.
Buck's in the jail, guarded by Black Brock.
4.
Have you noticed anything near the jail that could be used as a weapon?
5.
There a nasty nest of ants in the copse north of town.
6.
Have you found anything that might attracts insects?
7.
Bugs like sugar and there's a bag of sugar in the pantry.
8.
Cut into the sugar with the knife while standing next to the stump. The ants will follow. Don't stop, though, or they'll strip you clean.
9.
Throw the sugar north into the jail and it will land on Brock. The ants will follow and
take care of him.
10.
Don't forget to free Buck from the jail cell.
Black Bill
1.
Buck's disappeared but that's OK. He'll show up later.
2.
There's one more henchman out there, though.
3.
Have you explored the mine northwest of town?
4.
There's a lantern conveniently located right outside and
a map on the wall.
5.
You'll need to light the lantern. There's a matchbook under the cot in the
jail cell.
6.
I found Black Bill and a rock deep in the mine. But he keeps catching me.
7.
Have you found the sledgehammer? Have you tried using it on anything?
8.
If you hammer one of the supports, you can cause a localized cave-in that blocks
an exit. That's interesting.
9.
You need Black Bill to follow you as you selectively remove exits to trap him inside.
10.
One sequence that will work starting from the dynamite cache: w, nw, w, n, n,
w, w, w, se, se, hit the northwest support, ne, hit the north support.
11.
Don't forget to grab the black rock in the dynamite cache before you leave.
Old Mercurial
1.
I can't seen to get past without getting cooked.

Have you explored the area north of town?
3.
There seems to be a hidden hatch under the tree behind the diner. But it's too heavy to open yourself
4.
Have you met daisy the mule?
5.
There's a hook on the hatch and a hook on her collar. How handy
6.
And you should still have a rope from earlier when you rescued Buck from the water tank.
7.
Position daisy in the room. She'll follow the carrot from the kitchen if you show it to her.
8.
Throw the rope 'up' over the branch above. Then tie one end to the hatch hook and the other
to daisy's collar. If you show Daisy the carrot then lead her south or simply throw the carrot south, Daisy will follow and will pull the hatch open.
9.
You'll find a cannonball in the compartment. Perfect for plugging Old Mercurial. Temporarily.
Dr. Mudd
1.
I'm past Old Mercurial but now there's a whole field of geysers I can't cross.
2.
Have you met Dr. Mudd, the geyser expert? He mentions he's been working on a device that predicts
geyser eruptions. But he needs a piece of magnetite (a.k.a. a lodestone) for it to work.
3.
He's staying in room 1 in the hotel. Maybe his device is in there?
4.
The door's locked, though. Maybe he has the key on him.
5.
He's lurking around west of town by the geysers. After you hang out with him for a while, he'll leave
and head back to the saloon for bad tea. If you have the black rock from the mine and give it to him, he'll head there
immediately.
6.
Follow him back to the saloon. You'll notice that his jacket is hanging on his chair. There's
a promising pocket in it. But he understandably won't just give it to you.
7.
You need a way to separate Dr. Mudd from his jacket.
8.
It's tense in the saloon, as if a fight could break out the slightest provocation.
9.
Using the greenback from the chef's hat in the pantry, buy a beer from O'Malley. Go outside the
saloon and throw the beer south back in. It will hit someone and trigger a full-scale bar brawl.
10.
Dr. Mudd is no fighter. He'll duck out, leaving his jacket behind.
11.
Grab the key then head to room 1. Get the strange helmet and stick the magnetite on it.
How does the helmet work?
1.
The lodestone is magnetic and will attach to the helmet, activating it.
2.
When you wear it, you'll hear sounds through it.
3.
The geysers erupt randomly but in a pattern: first wisps of steam, then 1 knock, then 2 knocks, then full eruption.
4.
Using the knocks from the helmet to guide you, you need to navigate across the field and out the west side.
5.
Once on the other side, you'll find the baddies' campsite and a tent.
6.
Search the tent and you'll find something near and dear to Blackthorn.
7.
You can return to town through the canyon. Just pull the rope first to deactivate the boobytrap.
Endgame
1.
As you head back to town, you'll meet your Doppelganger.
2.
He's Blackthorn's sidekick and he has a message for you.
3.
Head to the sawmill for the final showdown.
4.
Silas Blackthorn will monologue for a while but when he's done so are you.
5.
His sidekick seems even less happy with his assigned hero than you are.
6.
Maybe he would want to trade?
7.
Give him your sidekick card. He'll give you a lead slug to load into your slingshot. You can then
shoot Blackthorn and he'll fall into the saws. Ick.
